Kentucky Legal Aid (KLA) is a regional, nonprofit public interest law firm that has zealously advocated for impoverished clients in civil courts since 1977. The original program (Cumberland Trace Legal Services, Inc.) served clients in the ten-county Barren River Area Development District. Later, Cumberland Trace Legal Services, Inc. absorbed a sister agency (West Kentucky Legal Services) to form Kentucky Legal Aid.
Today, KLA services 35 counties in South Central and Western Kentucky and is the area’s only provider of free civil legal assistance. KLA has four fully staffed offices and three satellite offices, with its main office located in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
KLA employees a team of top-notch legal professionals who have dedicated their careers to serving low-income individuals. The agency is dedicated to securing equal access to justice and addressing issues of poverty. KLA never charges a fee for services.
