Top Five Things to Know about COVID-19 and Domestic Violence

  1. You can still apply for a protective order any time, every day. Every Kentucky county has a system for 24-hour access.
  2. Domestic violence is a crime. You have a right to be safe from violence.
  3. Protective orders keep victims safe by stopping your abuser from being near you, calling, or messaging you.
  4. Kentucky Legal Aid is available by phone to give victims advice about protective orders and may be able to go to court with you.
  5. Shelters and crisis hotlines are still open to help victims. Visit the Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence website for the crisis hotline in your area.
