Private Attorneys
For practicing attorneys willing to provide their expertise, consider our Private Attorney Involvement program.
Kentucky Legal Aid Private Attorney Involvement program provides high-quality, economical and effective client-centered legal assistance and legal information to eligible clients. These contract attorneys provide direct delivery of legal assistance to clients in certain counties. Program attorneys maintain private offices and are uniquely qualified to best provide services to residents in their service areas. Contract attorney fees are paid through KLA funding and do not exceed 50 percent of the local prevailing market rate for the type of service provided.

Research Projects
Students are given the opportunity to conduct research in a real-world setting that has the potential to improve the legal services we provide to our clients. Through your project you’ll gain experience in research design, data collection and data analysis. You’ll collaborate with our talented team as you develop skills and expertise to add to your resume. Intern/Externships
Students pursuing degrees in paralegal studies, legal assistant studies, social work or similar programs who are interested in fulfilling an academic intern/externship requirement with us are invited to contact us for consideration. You’ll need to possess a passion for social justice and poverty-related issues. All intern/externship opportunities are based on the needs of KLA. Interested? Fellowships
Kentucky Legal Aid may sponsor candidates for public interest fellowships. We’ll consider prospective fellowship candidates who have demonstrated commitment to public interest legal work and who are dedicated to working with low income and vulnerable individuals and families to overcome legal barriers to an improved quality of life.
Apply at least six months before the fellowship’s application deadline by sending us your resume, cover letter (including a brief outline of the fellowship project proposal), writing sample and law school transcript to GetInvolved@KLAid.org.
If accepted, KLA will work with you to develop a full proposal that is compatible with our mission and program priorities.
